Holiday Showcase

Thank you to all the skating families and friends who joined us for our Annual Holiday Showcase followed by a Family Fun Skate at Jack Charron Arena. This was a wonderful opportunity to come watch our skaters show off their solos and skating skills.

2024 Skate Ontario Pre-Novice & Novice Sectional Championships

December 8-10, 2023

Congratulations to our Pre-Novice Pairs Team, Brianna Dion and Makya Bertrand, who placed first at the Pre-Novice and Novice Sectional Championships in Huntsville! They accomplished a personal best overall score and Glen Cairn Skating Club is very proud to have this pairs team representing our club at the 2024 Skate Canada Challenge Championships in Oakville, February 1-4, 2024!

 

A send-off was held on December 5 for all three of our skaters heading to the Championships. They had the whole club cheering them on!

 

Provincial Series #3 - Nepean

December 1-3, 2023

43 GCSC skaters registered to compete at the third competition in this year's Provincial Series. Our club had a great showing at this event, with lots of smiles, medals and ribbons. Our podium finishers deserve a special round of applause! (Complete results for ribbon winners will be shared as coaches provide them.) Congratulations, everyone!

CPA Asticou 2023 Invitational

November 9-12, 2023

36 GCSC skaters registered to compete at the CPA Asticou 2023 Invitational in Gatineau, Quebec. Well done, everyone, with a special mention to our many podium finishers!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sectional Series November Competition

Nov 2-5, 2023

Everyone at Glen Cairn Skating Club was cheering for Brianna Dion as she competed in the Pre-Novice Women's category at the final qualifying event of the series for this season.

Sectional Series October Competition

October 12-15, 2023

Nine of our skaters participated in the Sectional Series October competition, hosted by Skate Ontario, Barrie Skating Club, and Mariposa Winter Club at the Allandale Recreation Centre in Barrie.

GCSC Mini-Seminar

September 16, 2023

Thank you to Paige Aistrop and Ernest Pryhitka, world-level coaches from the Toronto Cricket Skating Club, for running on-ice sessions at our club's “Mini-Seminar” at Jack Charron Arena! Off-ice classes were also held with Coach Christine at the Glen Cairn Community Centre for both groups: STAR 3-6 and STAR 7+. What a great way to kick off the season!

Love to Skate

Glen Cairn Skating Club was proud to host the Love to Skate event in the STAR 1-4 series at Kanata Recreation Complex. We are grateful to all the amazing volunteers who helped to make this event a success. It was a busy day jam packed with skating and we couldn't have done it without you! The dedication of our members' time and efforts are what make our club the best that it can be. Thank you!! Congratulations to all our participating skaters on their fantastic results!

Skate Canada Challenge

January 27-28, 2023

We are proud of our Pre-Novice Pairs Team, who competed at Skate Canada Challenge in Regina, Saskatchewan, and earned personal best scores for an 8th place overall finish. Way to go, Brianna and Makya! The team has also been announced as alternates for the 2023 Canada Winter Games in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, February 26 - March 5, 2023. On Sunday, January 22, the STARSkaters had a send-off to wish Brianna and Makya good luck at their upcoming competition.
